Cass, a film by Hugh Schulze

“Cass” drawings, paintings and “banner” paintings, are meant to reveal Joshua’s (the artist, protagonist) process of working through ideas, from the roughest of sketches and drawings, to more finished multimedia montages. He’s chosen to combine, in an outbursts of emotion…religious reference, mythology, alchemy, cultural and historical imagery, in an effort to formalize his own personal iconography.

Arc of a Bird, a film by Hugh Schulze

The paintings and studies shown here illustrate the main character’s (Joshua Whitmore) process of developing a painting by weaving an iconic religious image (The Infant Jesus of Prague) together with thoughts of flight, fantasy, destruction and redemption.
